A fellow artist and writer, whom I was dating at the time, introduced me to the art of using coffee to create art whilst sitting in a cafe. I quite liked the initial result, so I decided to develop it into a more detailed pencil drawing. As with much of my work, the process took over and the drawing began to show me things. Feelings that I needed time to sit with, to percolate. A figure emerges from the layers of a coffee cup, contorted and processing, the cross section revealing the depths of what lies beneath.
Exhibited at Colab 2 Gallery in White Gum Valley, Western Australia (2026). Held in private collection.
