This self-portrait came from a place of letting go. I was feeling the weight of trying to live up to expectations. I started thinking about where I came from, how without imperfection at the big bang, then I wouldn’t exist. About how my life is but a tiny microcosm in the greater cosmos, and how I’ve been born out of the atoms made by stars, and how consciousness might be fundamental, about trying to make sense of it all, about not trying at all, about facing this uncertainty, about falling into the mind’s shadowy depths, about remaining hopeful and curious throughout it all.
