The Art of Jem Ham

Best Painting

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Art Prize 2021

I was wonderfully surprised and extremely honoured to receive the Best Painting award on Friday night at the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Art Prize.

I want to say a massive thanks to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder as well all the sponsors and supporters whose combined efforts and contributions made for a fantastic awards night and exhibition. And also to all the esteemed judges who gave of their time and experience in choosing the winners.

A big congratulations to Christine Carmody who took out the major prize with her stunningly intricate work ‘Minyma Yorga Woman’ and to all the other award winners.

Here’s some kind of blurry photos of me looking like a hairy behemoth in awkward poses next to my painting for your enjoyment.

The exhibition is on from now until 22nd October at the Goldfields Art Centre, Kalgoorlie. If you are in town or planning to head there in the next week or so, it is well worth a look. There’s some stunning artworks on display. You can also put in your vote for the People’s Choice Award.
